We've truly enjoyed bringing you "the
BEST in Philippine film" at the Philippine Cinema Showcase, but cruel
economic reality dictates that we bring things to an end with this
week's showing of Brillante
Mendoza's Foster Child
and Tirador.
We couldn't have asked for a better final program: Foster Child won
Best Actress, and Tirador won
Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actress, Best Editing, and
Best Sound at the Gawad Urian Awards, the Philippines' best-regarded
film award ceremony.
We are completely grateful for
the opportunity UltraStar Cinemas offered us to program the films above
for San Diego's Filipino American community. Please continue
to patronize UltraStar Cinemas, and UltraStar Chula Vista in particular!
